Saturday Slam #7 - WPS Edition

"Across the Board" edition continues!!

Race 1 :
If April Sunshine can stay flat at the start she has a big chance to gun down what we think is going to be a heavy favorite in YF Meemo. Meemo made her debut for her new connections last week in impressive fashion. This is a tougher race for her tho and she still has to stay flat.

Race 2 :
To try and upset Age of Consent might be a futile quest but we are going to give it a shot with Angel's Awe in this spot. She has been facing a F&M $4800 claiming group that has gotten real tough as of late. She draws inside and that should give her some striking range. Let's see if she can upset a heavy favorite here.

Race 3 :
Going to stay on the Prvo bandwagon. He was shuffled back last week and finished with moderate pace. Still hasn't found his form of a year ago but you can tell he is getting tighter and fitter with each start. Tonight could be the night. He will have to deal with the dropping class of Bobnoxious, who is coming off of a month and a week freshener. Will he need the start? At the odds were expected to get, we'll say yes. If he doesn't, were in big trouble.
$2 WPS 3

Race 4 :
Going to give a shot to Nans Keeper in here. She qualified decently two back and her start at Dresden was needed at it showed as she raced an even 5th. First time Moody and she draws inside. Field is very suspect and I don't think we are going to get the 10-1 ML.
$2 WPS 2

Race 5 :
Going to go with Wood Artist from the rail. He was used a few times last week and rightfully tired nearing the finish. He has tactical speed to insure a good early spot and this field doesn't have a whole lot of depth to it.
$2 WPS 1

Race 6 :
Georgie Boy gets first time Copeland and a big post improvement. Two starts back, he dropped in this class and faced a tough Jatelo. Last week had a horrible trip but had pace in the end. This could be Georgie's shot. The one to beat will be the dropping Mattnipulator.
$2 WPS 2

Race 7 :
Ima Keeper looked to extend the win streak to 4 last out when she tired against tougher. She's back in against her kind and Wallis returns. It won't be easy. CC J Lo continues to be a consistent entity in this class and the hard knocking mare draws the rail to boot. She will be tough as she always is.
$2 WPS 4

Race 8 :
Eye on the Goal made a huge move up the rail last week to beat softer. Comes out of the cond claiming ranks and the tag is taken off. That's a great sign of confidence from the trainer. This field isn't really that deep to boot. Main threat comes from Patty's Patriot who gives 100% every week, just seems to have a hard time getting to the winner's circle.
$2 WPS 1

Race 9 :
It probably isn't wise (or sane) to try and bet against Biletnikoff in this spot. He invades the Invite with about $150,000 more on his card then when we last saw the son of Keystone Raider. He has dominated the top ranks at The Meadows and was parked from the word ago against some of the best aged pacers in the country in the Battle of Lake Erie at Northfield Park. If he falters, any of the other five can win it. Even tho this race offers little in wagering value, you may want to keep an eye on the show board. If there is a big amount of money on Biletnikoff to show, then play a few bucks on the others to show. If something happens and the big dog runs out of the money, it could be a nice payday. If not, you'll come close to breaking even. Low risk/high reward potential.
Wager $0.

Race 10 :
Going to take a huge price chance here with Little Orphan Andy. Double jumps in class and that is scary however there are some horses in here that didn't look very good last week. Our thinking is maybe Andy can carry the form over to beat the class one time. You gotta love it, the age old handicapping debate of class vs form.

Race 11 :
Katie bar the door early on in this one folks. There is lots of early speed here. This race is going to get to the first quarter in no time. If there ever was a race to find a closer, this is it. Blue Time Bayou fits the mold perfectly. He beat alot of these last week, and there might be some value here because there are others that are going to get alot of attention at the windows.
$2 WPS 5

Race 12 :
Going to take a shot on Color Me Cam. Qualifier was solid against Silveresque, who was an open F&M pacer here last year. He obviously has some ability as shown in his :56 effort at Northville in the dead of winter. Draws well and seems worth a play.
$2 WPS 2

Race 13 :
So tough to go against Annie Annie Oakley in this level of claimer but we have to because the value is not going to be with her. Success Brings Joy has raced well virtually every start. She tends to find trouble sometimes but she has maintained her form for quite a while now. Plus she usually offers up some decent odds.
$2 WPS 5

Race 14 :
Life's about gambling and were going to take one here with Silver Dollar Star. Her races aren't as bad as they appear on paper at Raceway and she was facing some pretty tough winners down there. I can see the speed backing up in here. Maybe in her favor.
$2 WPS 7

Race 15 :
Let's try the ageless one Blue Oxfords. Tough trip last week and still managed a good placing. Actually, the last time this horse had a decent trip he finished second to My Boy Jeff who won here the other night in a tough claiming race. Lets hope we get a better journey tonight and get victory number 81.
