Friday Focus #13
Race 1: It's Dollar Night at Hazel Park so let's see if we can pick some winners!! We are going to go with the ageless Blue Oxfords to kick off the card. Faced those tough 6k claimers in his last few. Last time at this class, he was a going away winner. Post 9 never helps, but sometimes it does help the price. Speaking of post 9, Bar K Artistic sheds that hole after a sharp effort in his last. He is in top form and is a big threat. Real Jewel drops and is the likely favorite. Bear Cat and Doc's Awesome make for usable longshots underneath. $2 Exacta 9 with 2578. Total $8.
Race 2: First time Carlson on SF Overcast after coming out of a tough race at Croswell fair. Back in against overnight competition and is amongst just a few horses that like to show early foot. Expect better from Pete's Brother. No chance from post 9 last week and a big post improve plus the return of his regular pilot should produce improvement. Perfect Keylauge was racing well until he faced a tough group last out at the fairs. $2 Exacta 6 with 13579. Total $10
Race 3: Dropping Time For Justice is going to be tough to beat in this spot. Tough trip last out and he is in a pretty soft spot for a returning Carlson tonight. Chip of Nordic gets a big post improve here and should be in line for a nice trip. Joel's Time Out has only 6 starts this year and appears to be on the improve. $5 exacta 3 with 15. Total $10.
Race 4: Going to take a shot with Artista Bella in this spot. First timer from a top stable raced decently in a qualifier. Moves outside in her debut but this field is manageable. Modena is another coming off of a real nice qua. $2 Exacta box 7 with 125. Total $12.
Race 5: Going to go back with Double Royal in this spot. Speed to burn from the rail and things should be a lot more manageable up front for him tonight. My Mission could be a dark horse in here. Tough trip last out and gets big post improvement 4th start off of a 2 month layoff. Roan Cody may close for a minor. $3 Exacta box 1 with 28. Total $12.
Race 6: Not a whole lot of speed in here so I'll take a shot with Lindsay's Shark from the outside. Very tough trip last start and expect a more aggressive start from him tonight. Spartan Pride had a terrible trip last out and still managed to finish a game second. Giovanni's Legacy continues to race well and should be involved in a live outer flow in here. $2 exacta 8 with 13457. Total $10.
Race 7: ICU Mr Charlie maybe in line to get another pocket trip after he was successful with that tactic against similar last week. He is real sharp right now and we are staying on the bandwagon. Our Girl Maddie was very successful at this class when she last saw it 5 back setting a new life mark. She has been facing tougher ever since. Abe's Little Blacky figures to do all the work in here. $5 exacta 2-3. Total $5.
Race 8: Has been chasing the tough Rip Rockin Lady in her last two starts. Not a whole lot of speed in here so a good trip could be had. Certainly a better trip then last week is expected. SF Dakota is in the best form she has been in a while. She lost to the class dropping Cadie's Gotta Gun last out. Dear Caterina is class dropping and merits respect. $5 exacta box 1 with 45. Total $20.
Race 9: Should be a good one as it will be interesting to see how a few of the sharper mares fare against these inviters. The F&M preferred to failed to fill, so that's why we see the ladies in here. Wattafine has been sharp and able to maintain his form all year long it seems. Home Stretch won his last effort here in this class. Son of Nordic is always a threat and Armbro Approach is slowly regaining the form he had in 2008. It's dollar hot dog time!!! I'll take a dozen with an order of nachos, 3 ice cream bars and a Diet Pepsi please. Wager $0.
Race 10: Lotta speed in here so we are going to opt for closer Rock Bottom in this spot. Faced tougher last week and was shuffled out to the back and had no racing room. Outer flow should be live and our charge should be amongst it. Mias Bold Maneuver was our pick last week and he suffered a tough loss to the dropping Cien. Should be in line once again for a good spot just off the speed. Also JD Johnnie maybe sitting on a big one as well. $2 exacta box 178. Total $12.
Race 11: Queen of Royalty remains sharp and has maintained her form in this classification virtually all year. She is the one to beat once again. Rip Rockin Lady could be the dark horse. She had a break through race 2 back when she dropped out of this level. She then went on to win her division of the coon at Croswell. She is sharp and maybe ready for this class this time around. $2 exacta box 5 with 347. Total $12. $2 Tri 37 with 37 with 45. Total $8. $20.
Race 12: Going with Tieler Bea Hotspur in this spot. Draws inside and drops in class after a rail trip against a pretty tough field. Should be in line for a good journey here tonight. $3 exacta box 2 with 15. Total $12.
Race 13: First time Wallis on Upward and Onward and she has been drawing brutal posts. Let's give her a shot. De Bomber gets first time Kramer and has speed. Artistic Heart is sharp but the 9 hole does hurt some. $3 exacta box 1 with 369. Total $12.
Race 14: Moon Is On Fire looks to be a standout in here based on her class drop. Thea's Cam has had tough trips in her last 2 starts. Hopefully things can turn out better for her trip wise. Darn Clever could be a longshot to consider as well. $2 exacta 68 with 768. Total $8.
Race 15: Going to take a shot with MM's Gray Ghost. Get's a post improvement from post 8 to 1 here tonight and does have speed with a returning Wallis. Post improvement for Sam's Jodi as well. Lani's Raider is the likely speed. $3 exacta box 1 with 247. Total $12.
Total Investment: $165
